Am new here and posted some pics of my new bike in other forums a bit ago. Wanted to just share some pics of my work location in Southern Afghanistan. Will put short descriptions with each pic.

WOW!! Those are awesome pics. I can't tell you how much I appreciate the perspective. I will definitely put this thread on the front page. I noticed all the mud. How much rainfall do y'all get? Afghanistan is generally thought of as a desert by us laymen.

We do not get rain that often here in the southern part. When it does rain, however, it is a slick mess. You would think you were walking across a concrete parking lot with 2 inches of very fresh cow manure laid on top. Well that is as good of a description as I can come up with. Luckily the smell is not there.

Yea I am a civilian and work as a contractor with the marines. I live in west Texas.

Thank you for posting! Are you at liberty to say what you do as a contractor? Contractor mercenary....contractor for building? etc...just curious...

yeah Budda, I am a contractor for construction and maintenance. We are here to fix up the camp so that it ia just a little more comfortable than what you see in the pics.. There will be real toilets and showers, laundry faciility, new DFAC (chow hall), platforms under every tent to raise them off the ground. Graveled roads, etc. Once everything is done, we operate and maintain everything. It is a very rewarding job and it is so nice to help out our guys over here.(and gals) I will look through more pics when I can and see if there are any more that may be of interest to ya'll.

What's the danger level where you're at say... compared to Kabul? I know everywhere is dangerous but was wondering if you're constantly under attack or are y'all at a place where you can take a breath and think about what to do and such?

Rained here just a little the other day. Just enough to be real crappy to walk in. Wind has been blowing like crazy the last 2 days though. Feels like the tent is about to lift off.

Today we had a change of pace
Complete White Out Blizzard with 40 mph winds
Most of the day was spent trying to keep the Tents up
Miserable weather
Would have been a good day to browse Pirate Party Pics

I have a new one coming in the mail ....
I miss taking pictures during work
And I am not traveling off the mountain much yet but
we had 50 mph wind most of the night and white out snow it was cold as hell and our tents were dancing all night like riding a boat in a storm lol
